Cuba presented today its annual business portfolio to attract direct foreign investment (IED), with 395 projects for more than 9.5 billion USD.

The 2016-2017 portfolio contains 69 proposals more than its previous edition and 120 new initiatives, informed the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX), Rodrigo Malmierca when presenting the document during the International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2016), which brings together more than 3,500 exhibitors from 73 countries.

The minister pointed out that the territorial distribution of the 395 projects covers all provinces, the special municipality of the Isle of Youth and the Special Development Zone of Mariel (ZED), located in the western region.

All proposed businesses respond to the country’s priorities to contribute to the economic and social development until 2030, stated the head of MINCEX, who highlighted the inclusion in the portfolio of 24 projects for works in the ZED and 111 linked to several provinces in order to encourage production chains.

The sector with more proposals are tourism, infrastructure, agricultural and food production, energy and oil exploration, informed the minister during the opening ceremony of the 1st Investment Forum in FIHAV 2016.
