Cuban business delegation, travelling to U.S. on an official visit, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Port of Mobile, Alabama, during a conference of the American Association of Port Authorities.
Cuba´s ambassador in Washington,Alabama, divulged such memorandum by his Twitter account, in which he shared pictures of the signing of the document in Tampa, Florida.
In this way, links between the Port of Mobile and Cuba´s Mariel Port were are also strengthened.
As reported by microblogging network, Cuban ambassador thanked the president of Alabama Port Authority, James Lyons, whom he considered as a real leader in strengthening bilateral relations with Cuba.
Mobile Mayor, William Sandy Stimpson highlighted the great opportunities of exchanges with Cuba during a trip to the island in May of last year, and called for an end to the restrictions.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Alabama is one of the states pioneer in trade with Cuba.
Cuban delegation, that will be visiting tomorrow some other US cities, is made up of Ana Teresa Igarza, ZEDM Director General; and José Sosa Barrios, Deputy Director of Mariel Container Terminal Ltd.
